THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hamada Asiana Restaurant Review:
Combining Japanese teppanyaki exhibition tableside cooking with delicious sushi and sashimi at its 24-seat sushi bar and an imaginative menu of Japanese and Chinese specialties, Hamada Asiana caters to both traditional and adventuresome tastes. Debuting in June 2003, this beautiful restaurant features a colorful cocktail lounge called the Asiana Den, complete with a state-of-the-art sound system and video screen for late night dining and relaxation. Teppan dinners prepared by knife-wielding chefs include miso soup, a shrimp appetizer, salad, the chicken, seafood or steak main course, and ice cream. The dining room menu is à la carte with a few combos. Among the extensive selection of savory starters, we like the yakitori---chicken filet on a skewer with teriyaki sauce, and shumai---Japanese-style ravioli. Go for the shabu-shabu (finely sliced New York steak) for two, prepared at the table in a tasty broth with fresh mushrooms, bean cake and udon noodles. Among our favorite chef's suggestions is the yosenabe for two or more---a seafood, chicken and Japanese bouillabaisse with vegetables prepared at the table in a special fish broth. Try the Hamada special ramen---egg noodles, clams, shrimp, crab claws and roast pork in broth topped with assorted vegetables. The Japanese parfait is a refreshing dessert.
