Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille Restaurant Review:

Legend has it that Harry's founders won the start-up capital for the Northeast Florida chain while on vacation in New Orleans. They ate, they drank and were so taken with the idea of bringing that joie de vivre back to Florida that they went to the track and bet their traveling money on a long shot. The winning horse's name was Harry and the rest is history. Whether the story is true or not, Harry's Gainesville location does manage to re-create the let-the-good-times-roll atmosphere of the best Louisiana watering holes. Housed in a historic downtown building, it has a comfortable turn-of-the-century feel. The place draws locals and students, and an hour wait is pretty typical. The food is decent with some dishes bordering on authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine while others just have a lot of cayenne in the mix. But the fish and shellfish are fresh and the service quick and friendly. Order the jambalaya or etouffée, or the grilled chicken Baton Rouge topped with velvety goat cheese and sun-dried tomato-Key lime beurre blanc.
