THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hob Nob Restaurant Review:

A "chic tavern" rings oxymoronic, but that’s the goal at Hob Nob. Owners Alberto and Michelle Mastrangelo designed the establishment as a casual gathering spot. And compared to the restaurant that used to occupy this space, the couple’s notoriously expensive Epiphany, they have succeeded. Still, the vibe is somewhat upscale, attracting the pre-theatre crowd and groups looking for nightlife without the rawness of other downtown bars and clubs. Creative cocktails, a brief selection of full meals and internationally eclectic appetizers ranging from Italian-influenced flatbreads to ahi nachos and sweet Thai chili steak bites comprise the menu. The truffled mac ‘n’ cheese is as rich as it sounds, yet not overwhelming, and comes topped with a crunchy layer of toasted breadcrumbs. Even some of the full meals, such as ricotta and spinach ravioli made with a sage butter sauce, are available as small plates at half the price. “Sweeties” include a Boston crème pie and a chocolate lava cake that’s well worth the 20-minute wait.
