HOBNOB, Atlanta, GA

HOBNOB Restaurant Review

: While there’s a flat-screen TV superimposed over the corrugated metal that faces the fireplace, this is more of a spot for gathering, sharing munchies and chatting. Two patios, one enclosed and the other outdoors, spill over with patrons when the work day is done. It's a great destination for Saturday lunch, but get there early. Most dishes are popular noshes such as wings and tacos, but we liked the Southern Spring Rolls stuffed with pork and collard greens and served with a slightly spicy mayonnaise-based dipping sauce. Four pieces make a good lunch with a bowl of soup, perhaps tomato-basil, or a small salad. Fish ‘n’ chips come beer battered, so while hot, they aren't as crispy as we prefer, but the accompanying house-made tartar sauce saves the day. For dessert, try a grown-up milkshake or anything from a cobbler to Bourbon pecan pie. Choose from a few decent wines (New Zealand’s Matua Valley Pinot Noir), but mostly this is brews country. Craft sodas are among the quaffs, too. The kids’ menu seems respectable, and guests under 12 dine free on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Check out the daily specials, as in barbecue on Thursdays. In addition to weekends, brunch is served on holiday Mondays. Also located at 804 Town Blvd., Ste. A1010, Brookhaven at Town Center, 404-464-8971.
