honey hi, Los Angeles, CA

honey hi Restaurant Review

: In Echo Park the cozy, hip little café honey hi serves breakfast and lunch, and its cool vibe suits the neighborhood to a T. The bright, blond wood lined storefront has a few tables; it’s casual enough, but the breakfast and lunch bowls are ambitious and rather beautiful. Nearly everything’s organic or sourced from local farms and producers, and the menu has an Ayurvedic edge. Look for seasonal combinations like sweet potato hash with a turmeric poached egg, local greens, Marin Sun Farms heritage bacon and sumac. Savory sourdough tartines (gluten free) may be topped with the likes of caramelized banana and herbal jam or lemon avocado mash. Other bowls are hearty with harissa lamb meatballs, pumpkin seed arugula pesto or zucchini noodles and carrot fennel slaw. Smoothies sport healthful ingredients like goldenberries and pitaya, blended with house milk made of organic almonds and pumpkin seeds. You can also rev up your day with tigernut horchata, fresh pressed juices, bone broth or Bulletproof coffee. For a sweet treat, add on a chocolate chip cookie made with cassava flour and coconut sugar.
