House of Benny Restaurant Review:
These days, people seeking Chinese restaurants are in search of authenticity, and just a short drive from Covina is a hotbed of authentic Chinese cooking in the communities of Monterey Park, Alhambra and Rosemead. But it wasn’t so long ago that many of us craved --- and still do on occasion --- some old-fashioned, Americanized dishes like sweet and sour pork and chicken chow mein following a platter of barbecued pork ribs, cream cheese-filled wontons and egg rolls. Benny Ng still offers all of these items at his simple, clean Chinese eatery in Covina. He does, however, serve a nifty little dim sum selection, relatively addictive orange chicken and salt-and-pepper squid. For dessert, you’ll find almond gelatin and lychee. The food, for what it is, is satisfying and presented by a pleasant staff.
