THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The House Restaurant Review:
If you are in North Beach and don't want Italian, head over to The House. The tightly packed room is sparsely decorated with colorful Art Deco light fixtures and small works of art. There may be a few too many blond-wood tables, considering the place can get quite crowded and noisy when going at full throttle. The fusion menu does not forge off into undiscovered territory --- the kitchen offers reliable, Asian-inspired dishes that even culinary cowards can enjoy. Crispy calamari is served with a creamy miso dipping sauce; steamed dumplings get a punch from fresh ginger and a spicy soy dipping sauce. If you like unagi sushi, try the eel-and-avocado sandwich, which boasts more succulent meat than a plateful of rock-'n'-rolls. Bowls brimming with slippery Asian noodles or the rack of lamb flecked with red pepper, Korean-style, will satisfy the heartiest appetite.
