THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Il Palio Restaurant Review:

The owners of Il Palio---the folks behind the Pizzeria Classico chain and Gold River’s Il Forno---have done a remarkable job of transforming what was once the uninspired Strings and later a mini-mall sort of hof brau into a sunny and sexy café with an Italian horse racing motif. Racing silks line the walls, and nice little touches---an unusual array of glassware, wonderfully fresh focaccia---appear at every turn. The waiters are solicitous and seem eager to please, and the food they serve makes that task fairly easy. The mushroom salad is a smoky delight studded with pine nuts, and the innovative steak of the day can be a real treat.
