Intermezzo Pizzeria & Café Restaurant Review:

An intimate, distinctive spot, Intermezzo has been serving up fresh hand-tossed pizza and Serbian fare since 2007. Owners and brothers Branko and Djordje Avramovic are Serbian. The interior is cozy and quite small, making the large covered front patio enticing, especially on nice evenings. Heaters make it a viable option in colder months, too. Start with an order of bruschetta or house-made garlic braided twists. Opt for the Pomodoro Diversi, a pie complete with sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, mozzarella and romano cheeses, or try the Grilled Fungi, a hearty pie stacked with four types of mushroom, basil and mozzarella. All pizzas can be served in 10- or 16-inch sizes, great for a solo diner or for sharing. Serbian fare includes traditional ground beef or cheese-and-spinach burek, a house-made stuffed phyllo, served with a balsamic dressed side salad. For a combination, order the Piroska, a Balkan-style pizza stuffed with ham, mushrooms, mozzarella, ricotta and sour cream. Soups, salads, sandwiches and pastas are all options as well. For dessert, there are three homemade selections: crêpes, tiramisu and, in a nod to the brothers' new home, banana pudding. The short wine list offers good choices, and there are plenty of craft beers and cocktails.
