: Be sure you’re hungry upon arriving at Iron Horse. You'll find huge plates of the expected dishes --- nachos, enchiladas, burritos --- as well as more unusual offerings. The innovative cooks regularly present specials, such as an unusual Dungeness crab enchilada, fried catfish etouffée, paella, and Papa Medero's slow-cooked pork carnitas. From the train engine-shaped wood stove to the margaritas served in pint jars, this spot and its menu exude a certain quirky charm. There are plenty of vegan options, plus a gluten-free menu that includes sea scallop tostadas and a butternut squash enchilada. Sauces are authentic and homemade; you may even order a jar to go. Kids under age 12 eat free on Tuesday nights, and parents can always sneak off to the “lottery room.” The outdoor deck is especially pleasant on balmy days. |
