Isana Restaurant Restaurant Review

: There’s nothing much happening in North Kihei, so this restaurant is a welcoming spot. You can choose to be seated at the sushi bar for rolls and nigiri, or for a different experience, go to the large dining room where tabletop grills let you cook your own meats yakiniku-style. We like the bulgogi, thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet soy sauce mixture and grilled with onions. As a counterpart, try the marinated chicken. If you’re not into the hands-on grilling approach, the waitstaff will gladly cook your meat for you at the table. Korean specialties such as seafood jhun, a pancake with calamari and shrimp, and dolsot bibimbap, a traditional rice and vegetable dish served in a sizzling stone pot, are first-rate. A nice selection of banchan, or small side dishes, such as kim chee, pickled cucumbers and marinated spinach, come with the meal. The menu also offers a variety of traditional soups, stews and heavier entrées. If you’re a night owl, don’t miss late-night dining specials at the sushi bar from Wednesday through Saturday, and when you’re done indulging on raw fish, you can head upstairs to the snazzy karaoke bar to sing and be entertained.
