Owner Michiko Soffer is a first-generation immigrant from Japan, which is what the name of this restaurant means. But food prepared in this Cape Cod-style wooden shack is done by Piedmont-born Paulo Pestarino, a veteran local Italian chef. Pestarinos food---salmon carpaccio, pork chops grilled in balsamic vinegar, shrimp and cannellini beans---is satisfying and delicious. But the soul of this restaurant is Soffers terrific wine list, which pays homage to literally every one of the worlds great wine regions.
