THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED It's Greek To Me Restaurant Review:

This simple little family restaurant does much of its business at lunch. In the evening, it seems to be patronized mostly by working couples or friends having a fast, easy dinner after a busy day. Blue and white decor, of course, pictures of Greece, Metaxa decanters representing native costume, all amuse them while they wait (not long) for dinner. The menu is fairly short, with some of the items we've come to expect in Greek restaurants noticeably missing, like Greek coffee, and young waitresses neither bringing, nor offering, bread and water. Nevertheless, avgolemono soup is rich and creamy, the perfect thing for a cold or rainy night. Skordalia, the potato-and-garlic dip, comes warm, mashed potatoes tangy with olive oil and controlled use of the beloved stinking weed. With the accompanying pita it's starch on starch, but who cares? Kebabs are chicken or pork, no lamb, briskly seasoned and stretched out in a bed of pilaf that soaks up any extra meat juice or seasoning. If the lamb shanks are available, as they often are, don't hesitate. This hunk of meat the size of a large turkey drumstick is tender and meaty, large orzo pasta soaking up much of the intense sauce. Galactoboureko, normally the best of the Greek pastries, loses out to baklava here.
