It's Italia Restaurant Review

: It’s Italia might be a newcomer to Half Moon Bay, but for 13 years, the restaurant operated as a pizzeria in San Francisco. In these spacious digs the owners have significantly expanded its menu and successfully created an old-world atmosphere that is charming and features stone walls punctuated by frescoes, wrought-iron chandeliers, exposed wood beams and wooden pillars. Some of the best seats in the house, however, are outside on the cozy patio, walled in like a Tuscan villa, where individual fireplaces are installed along one of the patio’s walls, giving most tables a private hearth. Starters include oven-roasted Brussels sprouts, charred in all the right places and sprinkled with Parmesan. Calamari is thrown on the restaurant’s mesquite grill resulting in a nice infusion of smokiness. Pastas are consistent, but on the whole rather standard. Ravioli stuffed with sweet butternut squash is properly balanced by the earthiness of portobello mushrooms and the nuttiness of arugula. For dessert, fruit and chocolate are combined in the strawberry cookie crumble, a delightful parfait that layers strawberry gelato and chocolate cookies while drizzled with Scharffen Berger chocolate sauce.
