Francophiles and French ex-pats alike will feel at home at Jackie's Bistro. A French flag displayed prominently at the entrance alongside a large American flag and a rooster adorning the front window with its mock picket fence lend a provincial feel. Traditional appetizers ranging from butter, olive oil and garlic-bathed escargots to mussels steamed in white wine and herbs live up to the classic bistro standards. Try the boeuf bourguignon or the cassoulet Toulousain stew with pork, lamb, white beans, duck confit and sausage. Plates like calf’s liver sautéed in onion sauce enhance the authentic Gallic experience. For dessert, we suggest the poire belle Hélène, a lovely poached pear, and the Bistro apple tart. The wine list, which includes French regional bottles, complements the menu.
