Jake's Restaurant Review:
Jake’s is named for the owners’ West Highland terrier, which makes it appealing to dog lovers (yes, the restaurant is pet-friendly). There’s a charming courtyard area and an inviting dining room, but plenty of guests hop in briefly to pick up take-out orders. At lunch, salads and sandwiches are hits, such as the soft shell crab BLT prepared tempura-style with heirloom tomatoes, arugula, apple wood-smoked bacon and basil aïoli on a brioche roll. For dinner, the offerings are more substantial and lend themselves to lingering. There are crab cakes, meatloaf and four-cheese macaroni, plus baby-back ribs with a tangy pineapple-teriyaki glaze. Expect a thoughtful wine list and a bustling Sunday brunch.
