Gastropub in the Serrano Hotel offers comfort food, artisanal beers and creative cocktails.
Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen Restaurant Review:
From macaroni and cheese crafted with house-made cavatappi to tangerine-dressed heirloom-grain salad and grilled coffee-brined pork chop with pressed apple and butter bean ragoût, Jasper’s is a gastropub that knows its comfort food. Snacks such as soft pretzels, sausage bites and spicy nuts (which can also be purchased to go) can whet or sate the appetite, and pair well with clever cocktails overseen by lead mixologist Steve Middler (Scala's, Café Pescatore, Blue Mermaid). An entire menu is devoted to customized fries including poutine: choose from thick or thin, white or sweet, then from a palette of seasonings, or thick gravy and cheese. Desserts include classics such as fruit cobbler, ice cream sandwiches and black-and-tan sundaes. Wines aren’t a focus, but there is an international beer menu with eighteen beers on tap, not to mention that rarity of rarities: Negroni on tap. The restaurant’s interior is spacious yet surprisingly cozy; a raised ramp separates the dining room from the lively bar near the entrance, and a groovy curved banquette with tuck-and-roll vinyl stretches across one corner.
