THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jean-Michel Restaurant Restaurant Review:
If youre looking for French-inspired cooking but havent the time or energy to cope with downtown traffic, this Bethesda eatery may be your salvation. However, be warned that the staff can be somewhat brusque. The menu is not replete with many classic French dishes, offering instead corn soup with lobster to start and continuing on with clams casino, calamari tempura with aïoli sauce, and grilled and aged New York strip steak. Medallions of lamb with herbs is a good French choice, but steer clear of the forgettable pistou soup and choose the pâté maison instead as a starter. Desserts include soufflés, an apple tart with caramel ice cream, and, of course, crème caramel. Ask about the pastries---some of them are wonderful enough to make the meal.
