THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jeroboam Urban Brasserie Restaurant Review:
Think La Coupole on the prairie and you'll know the feel of Jeroboam. Set in the thoughtfully-renovated lobby of the circa 1913 Kirby Building, it was the only spot of light after 6 p.m. in a very dark downtown Dallas when it opened. And it's still the brightest star in the tiny constellation of the area’s nightlife. The original French-inspired fare evolved into a seasonal menu that is thoroughly American with bits of inspiration from around the world; there are even dips on offer. No fear, it's not French onion but the sort of crab and artichoke dip you dream of with chunks of fresh crab in puréed artichoke---and check out the lobster guacamole. Sea scallops in a lemongrass velouté are divine, a touch crispy on the outside with juicy meat on the inside. Look for options from the grill like venison, filet mignon, rib-eyes, lamb chops and pork chops. Be sure to try the roasted red pepper soup, it's been a Dallas fave since it debuted at sister restaurant The Green Room years ago.
