You can’t miss Jokers ‘n Thieves with its vivid blue exterior at the corner of Canton Square. The interior has a distinct roadhouse vibe with exposed rafters, reclaimed wood and tiles that cover the walls and the rough-hewed wood tables. At both bars or at your table, bourbon reigns with signature cocktails like The Inside Job with Bulleit bourbon, Luxardo, Pernod and aromatic bitters, or the Jokers Sour featuring Old Forester and St-Germain. Numerous choices for those who like craft brews are on tap and in the can. Known for her inspired take on Southern food, “Top Chef” contestant Jesse Sandlin creates country poutine, fries with spicy queso and smoked and shredded chicken, for a start, as well as her ever-so-crispy cornmeal fried oysters with chili mayo. Crab cracklins’ and deviled eggs are also available. But low country shrimp and grits starring head-on prawns; fried pickle-brined dark quarter chicken mounded on a Belgian waffle with maple-chili butter; and the 12-hour smoked brisket all should be on your dining bucket list.
