The colorful décor lets you know right away that you’re not in one of The Hill restaurants that colonized downtown. Joseph’s boldly goes it alone against the chain eateries hemming it in on all sides. The menu shows spunk with house-made gnocchi diablo, a potato dumpling paired with Italian sausage in a chipotle-cream sauce. A little milder choice is the stromboli, stuffed with sausage and peppers. Start the meal with crab cakes or specialty salads like the Caesar and goat cheese. In tomato season, the bruschetta is noteworthy. And do end with a house-made dessert. Joseph’s is a favorite with Cardinals fans, as well as with those looking for a leisurely lunch or dinner at a reasonable price point.
