Joz Ve Loz Restaurant Review:

With striking red walls, local offbeat art and a very rustic open kitchen, Joz Ve Loz might be the most eccentric and intimate restaurant in Tel Aviv. Either of the owners, Orit Revivo and Alma Fogiel, will often peruse the place, sit for long chats with devoted patrons and ask new guests if they're enjoying their meal. They are proud to use the restaurant as a platform to showcase Tel Aviv's up-and-coming young chefs, providing them free reign to play with and create dishes from their imagination. Chef Robert Kluger currently presides at the stoves, making bold, dramatic and yet to-the-point food, full of flavor and simultaneously minimal. The menu changes almost daily based on available fresh ingredients, however, it often lists some raw dishes, an intricate soup or two in the winter, grilled or sautéed selections, and French-inspired stewed gamey meats. Plates may combine non-traditional ingredients --- think dashi-braised beef neck topped with chives and marinated seaweed. For dessert, consider the pistachio malabi that comes with a citrus pomegranate sauce. The house wine is a South African red, but there’s also beer on tap from Taybeh, a famous West Bank brewery. More than just the source of a meal, Joz Ve Loz is a voyage into a Tel Aviv subculture.
