Jubilee Restaurant Review:

This classic French mainstay has been a Sutton Place favorite for two decades and counting, and with good reason. Headed by Eric Macaire, and chef Luc Holie and his wife Ilda, the restaurant is upscale but accessible and offers cuisine that is at once sophisticated and approachable. The tastefully appointed two-room dining area is inviting; well-spaced tables, soothing neutral tones and shelves containing personal keepsakes as well as those collected from the proprietors' travels, running the length of a wall, add elements of intimacy. The traditional menu is well-executed; for starters, broiled escargots come sizzling in butter, garlic and parsley, while slices of creamy foie gras are served with toast and an apple cinnamon compote. Highlights among the entrées are roasted sea scallops on a bed of orzo over a delicately pungent porcini mushroom and Parmesan sauce, as well as a quenelle of creamed and poached pike with a mousse-like consistency. Complement these dishes with a Muscadet or an organic rosé. Desserts are similarly well-prepared; a fluffy blueberry soufflé and a duo of velvety chocolate torte make great options for those seeking a sweet ending to the meal.
