Step inside Jungle Jim’s and you’ll instantly realize that this is not a regular restaurant. Let’s just say that the restaurant has a inspired interior decorator. This adventure in dining is perfect for kids, except during late nights when college-aged kids seem to overtake the bar. If you’re the kind of person who looks for the most unusual item on the menu, you might have a hard time deciding here. Let’s just say that the list of unusual meals is about as long as the list of unusual alcoholic drinks. Topping the list is a $14.21 burger. The menu promises a free meal to anybody who can clean their plate. The plate includes a monstrous pound of beef, topped with grilled ham, two lean bacon strips, cheddar and Jack cheese and---just to make it tougher---a full-pound of fries. Among the 22 other burgers, there’s the Peanut Butter BET, smothered with hot peanut butter, bacon, cheddar, dill chips, tomato, lettuce and mayo; and the Fertility Inferno, complete with Cajun sauce, pepper cheese, buffalo wing sauce, sliced jalapeños, cream cheese, sour cream, shredded lettuce, dills and tomato. All burgers are available with a beef, chicken or vegetable-based patty. As for the restaurant’s famous drinks, try the Jungle Jim with its four shots of liquor. According to legend, if you drink three, you become invisible. If you care for the largest dessert in Orlando, try the mud pie, a heaping combination of chocolate and mocha ice cream, cookie crust, almonds and decadent fudge. Jungle Jim’s is located in the Church Street Marketplace, near Church Street Station.
