THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kenmare Restaurant Review:

Kenmare is a do-over for many of its principal players. Backing the project are Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan, who last worked together at the late Beatrice Inn. Designing the menu, meanwhile, is Joey Campanaro of Market Table and The Little Owl (yes, his famed sliders made it to the menu here). And, the space itself is a reclamation project of Civetta, an unloved downtown Italian spot. The end result, however, is hardly a rehash. Instead, it's a more sophisticated version of the food from Campanaro's other project with a dash of glamour from Sevigny and Khan. Appetizers range from a delicate hearts of palm and artichoke heart salad to those aforementioned sliders, to basil gnocchi with short rib ragoût. Entrées are even more traditional than the first courses, with crispy halibut, grilled swordfish and a strip steak all making an appearance. They're saved by their sides---that halibut comes with caramelized fennel and the strip is paired with "truffle burst" tomatoes and asparagus risotto. Ultimately, giving Campanaro's cooking a venue with more than a smattering of seats, even if it's something of a scene late at night, is a winner for diners downtown.
