THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Knife + Fork Restaurant Review:

Offering more than just eating accoutrements, Knife + Fork has a cozy, rustic ambience that shows the less-than-gritty side of the East Village. You can warm up at the polished bar and admire the stacked bottles (chosen by chef Damien Brassel and sommelier Frederic Grappe). Thick wood-hewn tables occupy the rest of the intimate space while a few banquettes for two line the far wall. Irish-born Brassel’s menu is apt to change with the seasons. The six-course tasting menu at $45 will take your tastes buds on a satisfying world tour. Dishes may include Berkshire pork belly with carrot and orange purée and pickled cucumber or the torchon of Hudson Valley foie gras with chestnut purée, cranberry compote, and Brussels sprouts salad. Although the staff is hard-pressed to keep up with the diverse crowds squeezing in during the later hours, their cheerful dispositions add to the down-home atmosphere and any wait could be the best time to try out one of the worldly wines.
