For many years, there was no hibachi restaurant anywhere in Hartford County, an unfortunate situation for those in search of an evening of eating and entertainment with a group of friends or family members. Happily, though, Kobe Japanese Steak House in the Farmington Valley filled this gap in the local dining line-up, and its two hibachi tables are manned by chefs with a knack for not only preparing delectable grilled steak, chicken, fish, shellfish and vegetables but for delighting diners with their culinary jokes and tricks. Hearty hibachi meals---scallop and steak are our favorites---are served with soup, salad, vegetables and fried rice. Though hibachi is the main attraction, Kobe also offers a full menu of other Japanese specialties including tempura, teriyaki, noodle dishes and vegetarian entrées for both eat-in and take-out dining.
