: For nostalgic deli fare, Kornblatt's is the place to go. All fish and meats are flown in weekly from the East Coast, including Hebrew National salami and all-beef hot dogs. The menu offers chopped liver, blintzes, kugel, cabbage borscht, tongue, whitefish salad, and other authentic kosher eats, including a pot roast served with latkes. Breakfasts are enormous and inexpensive. Bagels are the authentic boiled-and-baked variety, in this case made in Portland, by artisan bagel-maker Henry Higgins. Corned beef, pastrami or turkey is piled to mountainous heights on corn rye, and the Reuben sandwich is topnotch. A bowl of dill pickles is standard on every table. For libations, order a local microbrew or a celery soda. |
