La Casa del Pastor is this posh neighborhood’s version of the corner taco joint: recognizably Mexican and traditional, casual and family-friendly but (also like Polanco) well-scrubbed, highly-designed and expensive, relative to what it is. Still, when you leave that fabulous nightclub, or need a break from high-end shopping and find yourself craving a taco al pastor (highly-seasoned, open flame-cooked pork barbecue with pineapple plus your choice of hot sauces on small corn tortillas) or an alcohol-absorbing gringa (the same meat but slathered with cheese and served between flour tortillas), this is the place. There are also more substantial Mexican plates available but focus on the tacos and beer and save your refined palate for somewhere else. Note: The atmosphere is fast-food-like and the service can be rushed, so this is more a place for a fifth date than a first.
