This pair of trattorias all but drip with red sauce---and so do their customers upon tackling the enormous portions. Chicken Parm, veal Marsala, spaghetti with meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo---just name your favorite Italian-American classic and you'll be inundated with it (lasagna, for instance, comes virtually by the pan). Though basically the same, the North End location better captures the free-for-all spirit these institutions seem to thrive on, while the Back Bay branch just adds insult to the injury of immediate weight gain, surrounded as it is by chic Newbury Street boutiques.
