La Mexicana Restaurant Review:

This corner café sporting a thatched palapa for outdoor dining dishes up real Mexican fare: guisado de puerco (marinated pork tips), milanesa de res (breaded beef steak) and nopalitos en salsa chipotle (tender cactus cooked in a tasty pepper sauce). Of course, La Mexicana also appeases those in search of quesadillas, fajitas and enchiladas, including the standout mole or shrimp enchiladas. We're also fans of the tangy ceviche, marinated in lime juice, as well as the mahi mahi fish tacos. The best deal, however, is found in the aptly named jumbo burrito. The giant tortilla bulges with beans, meat and cheese of your choice. Mexican chicken soup is excellent, too: a huge whole breast of chicken floats in comforting homemade broth with hunks of potato, carrot and celery. La Mexicana also does a brisk breakfast business with hungry souls lining up at the steam table for bags of tacos to go. The patio is a great brunchtime spot on the weekend when neighbors flock for the migas smothered in cheese and ranchero sauce and cocktail specials.
