Formerly a holiday villa occupied by the likes of Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, for the last 60 years Belles Rives has been a family-run luxury hotel, with a guest register signed by the Windsors, Édith Piaf, Josephine Baker, Miles Davis, and loads of other celebrities. The cellar does not offer the grandeur of the rest of this paradise, and is especially lacking in Bordeaux. The service is uneven--sometimes of Pink Panther speed, other times turtle-like.
