THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Taberna Tapas Restaurant Review:

When you’re looking for vibrant, shareable dishes and a satisfying sangría, this is your Eden. Taking cues from the Basque flavors of Spain, along with those of Mexico, the Mediterranean and Latin America, this University Village den is one to watch. Gustavo Castañeda (Zocalo) and Enrique Cortez (Ole Lounge) oversee the happenings, where things start with the raisin-flecked empanadas picadillo, finished with russet ancho sauce, avocado mousse and crunchy radishes. Then there's the sherry-spiked mushrooms and escargots in lemony parsley butter sauce --- it's a dish to come back for. Meanwhile, a bowl of olives mingles with citrus, hot pepper, roasted garlic and fennel flavors, while Spanish meatballs in tomato, fennel and saffron sauce are topped with mint and capers. Among drinks, choose the sangría Brava, spiced with chile piquin and jalapeño-infused tequila, or the lavender-scented Catalana version, topped with oranges and red and green apples. For dessert, the flaky apple turnovers are a wise choice.
