Lakeside Restaurant Review:

Lakeside is executive chef David Walzog’s second restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas, and it sits adjacent to his SW Steakhouse. Walls are adorned with oversize pebbles and pillars in the shape of tree roots, and they help set the tone for an evening enjoying the fruits of the aquatic. The mood is enhanced by the location --- it faces the picturesque Lake of Dreams, with its soothing water wall and nightly light shows. For an appetizer, try the Maryland crab cakes with vegetable and dill tartar, or the tuna sashimi with toasted garlic, jalapeño and ponzu. Among specialties are jumbo sea scallops from Hokkaido, Japan, Hawaiian wild-caught pink snapper, and Dover sole. Carnivores will appreciate a selection of Prime steak choices cut from the same 100-percent Angus beef that is served at SW Steakhouse. A whole page of the menu is devoted to vegetarian and vegan selections, such as the organic red quinoa and smoked mushroom with stewed tomatoes, zucchini and roasted cashews. The fare is complemented by an extensive wine list filling six pages, with a selection of labels from around the world. To complete your meal, a special dessert trolley is wheeled out, offering dishes divided into nutty, chocolate, creamy and fruit categories. Try the espresso, apple and Champagne truffles, lemon meringue pie with pink peppercorn crust, or the bacon chocolate bar.
