Lakota Bakery Restaurant Review:

If you blink you might miss the unobtrusive storefront housing this popular Arlington bakery. The cheery shop is run by Barbara Weniger and her counter staff of earnest high school students. There are cakes, brownies and cupcakes, but most people flock here for the cookies, which are a specialty and they come in abundance. More than 40 different flavors include butter cookies, chocolate chip, ginger molasses, raspberry linzer and Florentines. The macaroons alone --- filled with chocolate, coconut, lemon or mocharoon --- are worth the drive. When it comes to cakes, pick a flavor (chocolate, golden or almond meringue) and frosting (perhaps peanut buttercream, mint buttercream and dark chocolate ganache). Local retailers like Pemberton Farms, Formaggio Kitchen and S&S Deli carry the sweet confections.
