The Landings at Carlsbad Restaurant Review:
Diners can watch G-IVs take off at the McClellan-Palomar Airport while enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner at this relaxed bistro. It is famous for its peanut butter burger, a hefty half-pound certified Angus beef patty smothered in creamy peanut butter and served with Swiss cheese and smoked bacon. If that doesn't strike your fancy, there's the Landing gourmet burger, another half-pounder of Angus decked with smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles, spinach and buttermilk onion strings on a grilled ciabatta roll. Lunch and lighter fare means Cobb or Chinese chicken salads, crispy calamari, ahi stacks with guacamole and chili-pepper aïoli, and avocado spring rolls. Mahi mahi and a New York strip await bigger appetites or longer layovers. Saturday breakfast packs the house with locals who come for live music and chocolate chip pancakes for the kids.
