Le Chalet des Iles Restaurant Review:
What an idyllic setting, a chalet set on an island, circled by a lake in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. One accesses the restaurant by a little boat, which shuttles back and forth from the bank. The place is laid out in tiers and the terrace offers a bucolic view, without the inconvenience of any traffic noise. All should be well, save the food that partly suffers from the rush when the place is crowded. Salmon tartare turns out bland, though perfumed with dill. Beef filet proves better, sided by pommes dauphine with béarnaise sauce, though when ordered rare, one doesn’t expect to have to eat it well-done. Vanilla millefeuille is on par with the rest, prepared with not enough cream and too much pastry. Menu at €30.
