THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Le Lavandier Restaurant Review:
A dining destination for Macon, Ga? You bet! If youre traveling on I-75, its an easy stop. Daniel Adam, from Aix-en-Provence, France, came to Macon to serve as chef at the City Club, then left to start on his own. This is his second Macon restaurant, and its a classic for French cooking. The French onion soup is all freshly made, starting with the beef broth. Crab cakes have the best jumbo lump crab and are topped with fried leeks. On entrées, look for excellent roasted duck with raspberry sauce and mushroom risotto, outstanding salmon, delicious steak au poivre and a perfectly done grilled veal chop. Theres a three-course tasting menu for $50, including a split of house Champagne. While the menu changes, you may see foie gras, roast quail and a lamb chop with spinach potato saffron confit. A salad of lightly dressed greens accompanies the entrées. Desserts are made daily, and everyone enjoys the drama of crêpes Suzette---a French tradition that seems freshly re-invented here. Adam is working to find good values in French and American wines to add to his list.
