THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Le Marais Bistro & Bakery Restaurant Review:

Further evidence of San Franciscans' adoration of all things French, especially food, Le Marais is appropriately enough owned by a Parisian and specializes in classic pastries, baked daily with locally milled organic flours, organic butter and house-made levains. Choose from a pretty-but-pricey array of pains au chocolat, kouign-amanns, carrés, croissants, tarts, profiteroles, macarons, breads and fancy cakes almost too attractive to eat. (Oh, but go ahead; that's what they were made for.) For those not wishing to skip directly to dessert, generally sumptuous and always picturesquely plated Gallic bistro fare (complete with table service) includes salade Niçoise, boudin blanc and seasonal adventures such as squash-persimmon soup and kale spätzle. Trendy Portland-based Stumptown coffee attracts its own legions of loyals to this fragrant, lofty-ceilinged space. Le Marais closes at 7 p.m. on Sunday and Monday evenings.
