Le Soir is a slice of the French countryside served up in the suburban heart of Boston---leafy Newton Highlands. The interior, all cream hues and wood trim, constitutes an understated setting for French fare steeped in classical technique yet tapped on the shoulder by gutsy provincial traditions. The results are deceptively simple---carrot-ginger soup with pan-roasted mussels, rabbit potpie, rustic fruit cobblers---and they're a breeze to pair with the French and Californian labels that dominate the wine list. What are not so down-to-earth, admittedly, are the big-city prices.
