Les Jalles Restaurant Review:
This swank brasserie near the Place Vendôme is valued by a business clientele. The Art Deco setting, with banquettes, woodwork, copper railings and mirrors, contributes to a ritzy atmosphere. Staff clad in black bustle about to serve up the food, as the place tends to get crowded for lunch. On the menu, expect brasserie favorites such as Burgundy snails, foie gras, lamb shoulder and roasted beef tenderloin. We suggest the tasty beef tail terrine with mushrooms and ravigote sauce, and the hearty burger with chopped beef tartare, Saint-Nectaire cheese, fried onions and pommes Pont-Neuf. The cocoa moelleux is unfortunately under par, served with a salted butter caramel ice cream botched by icy crystals. To wash it all down, count on a dozen wines by the glass, notably a 2013 Haute Côtes de Beaune AOC Grande Cuvée Nuiton Beaunoy.
