THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Limon Restaurant Review:

It’s not hard to miss this sleek, tiny spot on an otherwise bleak stretch of 17th Street. The lime green walls with spare, silver letters sets it off from the rest of the storefronts. Inside, the warmer, taffy orange and yellow walls, dark brown tables and steel accents give this small spot a shot of urban modernism that most restaurants can’t claim. Devotees of Latin food, and even some surprised converts, have noticed, packing this spot to the gills and requiring reservations be made on most nights. Peruvian food is served here, so sit down and order some sangría, it may take some time to peruse the menu. To start, we recommend the platter piled high with ceviche of halibut, mussels and calamari topped with pozole and crispy corn nuts, or the flaky empanadas stuffed with a tender mix of beef, eggs and raisins. A tamal criollo promises and delivers a torpedo of masa spiked with chili and plumped with pork and olives. Entrées fly more of an American flag with dishes like a meaty cut of pork chop leaning leisurely against cabbage braised with mushrooms and bacon. Chicken breast is paired with truffled mac and cheese and a homey beef dish comes with sautéed tomato and onion. For dessert try the chocolate mousse.
