THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Little Alley Tapas Bar & Restaurant Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Chef Richard Wilt has crafted a menu of small plates that gives tapas a lift. Fish and vegetables get kingly treatment in his hands, from a tuna-salmon tartare with marinated cucumbers and chili aïoli to the seared Georges Bank sea scallops with parsnip purée and pan-roasted Chilean sea bass. Reaching into northern Africa, the menu includes a keftegie, a vegetable dish with pumpkin, tomato, chilies, onions and potato, topped off with egg and that wonder of all spicy-hot condiments, harissa. The lamb shank "tarts" with potato pancake, black olives and feta cheese demonstrate how cleverly this chef can assemble the Med's flavors and bring to life a taste of pure Provence. Gorgonzola dolce with balsamic figs and quince gelée makes a good finish, although the house does a creditable job with its assorted pastries. The wine list isn't extensive, but neither is it boring. The Huber Grüner Veltliner brings out the tiger in folks who are devoted to that noble Austrian grape.
