Little Next Door, Los Angeles, CA

Little Next Door Restaurant Review

: Adjacent to The Little Door restaurant, this bakery, deli and wine shop is the sort of destination to sweep patrons away into an old-world fantasy. The menu offers salads and sandwiches, from easy classics like tuna Niçoise and Brie and figs on raisin bread, to the more composed such as grilled calamari and endive in a lemon-caper dressing. More substantial fare includes beef bourguignon with fettuccine, Tuscan bean and kale ragoût with polenta, and a flat-iron steak with pommes frites. A charcuterie case boasts a promising number of imported meats, along with a wide variety of pâtés. There are also several brunch plates for the weekend, among them quite a few Benedicts. Desserts are a feast for the eyes: lemon tarts, crème brûlée, and a verrine St. Germain composed of layers of raspberry coulis, white chocolate cream and pistachio cream. A substantial wine selection features mid-priced European labels as well as a few South American and California bottlings.
