THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Lodge Restaurant Review:
When Southern California foodies mention Tim and Liza Goodell, it's usually in the same breath as "French cuisine" or "steakhouse"---which is why this restaurant comes as such a surprise. The Goodells offer up plates of country-style comfort food---chicken potpie, macaroni and cheese, roast chicken---for around $10 a plate. The stark, modern setting evokes artists' warehouses we've seen in Scandinavia, but the martinis are very California---and so is the attitude. The food, unfortunately, is neither here nor there. It's too pricey to be truly cafeteria-style, but too pedestrian to distinguish itself.
