OPENINGS

FIVE 55 offers an upscale sports bar experience at the new Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Monterey Park hotel. There are 10 TVs and plenty of seating options, including the bar, plush booths, large party tables and semi-private rooms. The menu offers Mary’s crispy chicken wings, flatbreads, “smashed” burgers, BBQ baby back ribs and more, plus local craft brews, cocktails and a Japanese whisky and spirit selection. Sugar Palm Ocean Avenue has opened at Viceroy Santa Monica in the former space of Cast. Guests can enjoy California-inspired plates indoors, at the wraparound bar or on the outdoor dining terrace by the pool. Dishes range from cauliflower tikka masala to hamachi crudo to roasted half chicken with gochujang & orange honey, roasted roots and herb jus.  The Restaurant at Meadowood The Restaurant at Meadowood on the Road
Chef Christopher Kostow and the team from The Restaurant at Meadowood are hosting a series of one-night dinners in select destinations. (Meadowood Napa Valley suffered damages during the Glass Incident Fire in September 2020.) The next stop will be at Pujol in Mexico City. A Los Angeles event is scheduled for Spring 2022 at Kato, which is changing locations to a new DTLA space in early 2022.
 
A Trip to Peru with Chef Neal Fraser
Join Redbird chef Neal Fraser on a special trip to Peru with Modern Adventure in May 2022. Participants will discover Peru’s culture and cuisine through food markets, restaurant kitchens and traditional Andes celebrations. There will also be the opportunity for a hike on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, as well as visits to Lima, Sacred Valley and Cusco. For more information, visit the official website. Chef Curtis Stone to Bring Back Maude
Chef Curtis Stone's Maude restaurant in Beverly Hills will return. The space has been occupied by The Pie Room by Gwen, which shuttered after Thanksgiving and will move to a new location. Maude, 212 S. Beverly Dr., Beverly Hills, CA 90212, 310-859-3418.
