THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lotsa Pasta Restaurant Review:
Lotsa Pasta has been a Pacific Beach favorite since it opened in 1989. How does owner Carol Blomstrom keep them coming back? Maybe because this casual, family-oriented place doesn't skimp on quality; serves a mix-and-match selection of homemade pastas, sauces and toppings; and is the only spot in town to offer a version of the famed, drum-shaped baked pasta spectacle called timpano, made famous by the popular foodie film Big Night. Finicky kids or special diets are no problem here, since you can tailor your order to any specific tastes or needs. Our favorite dishes include the broccoli salad, made with raisins, pine nuts and a sweet dressing; the Thai peanut ginger sauce over linguine with carrots, celery and sprouts; and spaghettini with the chipotle Southwest sauce, a smoky, peppery cream. For those who want something more authentic, besides the timpano, Lotsa Pasta also offers such specialties as jumbo shrimp fra diavolo with garlic, butter, white wine and red chilies; and a mean five-cheese lasagna.
