Lotus Thai Restaurant Review:

Situated in a nondescript strip mall just around the corner from Hillcrest’s hub, this Thai restaurant has a pleasing décor, with a central flowing fountain and heavy teak tables and chairs. Lotus serves up authentic fare, honoring recipes from Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Southern Thailand. Mostly a locals’ spot, with the rare uptown tourist wandering in, it's just the sort of place for a cozy chat with a friend or a romantic rendezvous. The menu features starters such as taro rolls with silver noodles, black mushrooms, cabbage and ground pork, served with plum sauce. Try the lotus platter to get a taste of it all, which includes a combination of crispy spring rolls, lanna gyoza, chicken satay, lady finger and krathong-thong. Try the Thai baby-back ribs slow-cooked and marinated in secret herbs or the whole pompano fish, golden fried and served in chef’s special tamarind sauce. Also located at 906 Market St., 619-595-0115.
