About the restaurant: John Fraser, known for the veggie-forward menus he created at Dovetail and Nix, has mixed up his food preferences in a something-for-everyone menu at The Loyal. The attractive bistro is the setting for lively neighborhood dining with a buzzy bar scene at the front and tables and two oversized semi-circular booths in the back. Retro lighting and quirky sketches on the walls by Toronto-born artist and sculptor Lukas Geronimas make this a fun dining experience, albeit with a touch of formality out of respect to the chef. Outdoor dining is also available.

Food & Drinks: The menu shimmies from raw oyster served as a martini, drunken eggs (bathed in a soy mix and topped with Japanese misago), and pastas to the signature Pigalle Burger with a 21-step tomato set on top in lieu of mundane ketchup or onions, and bacon-wrapped scallops with a Dijon vinaigrette. The Pigalle Burger also comes with one of Fraser’s greatest hits, duck-fat soaked tots, a sinful but worthy accompaniment. Parker House rolls, a New England favorite, make eating carbs even more heavenly. If you still have room after the burger and other dishes, Fraser invites you to play: his “1/2 pint” ice cream sundae creation is his gift to you from his past when he worked in an ice cream parlor. The sundae can be customized for as many people as are in your party which is a good thing --- you could never finish one of these by yourself. You’ll want to order a creative cocktail like the Got My Number with mezcal, chartreuse, orange and lime; or select wine from the international list, including a sommelier’s selection of the day.
