THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lucky's Burger & Brew Restaurant Review:
Lucky is a pooch, a friendly looking retriever whose portrait in multiple poses bedecks the walls, along with 10 TVs tuned to sports events. Doggie-themed burgers are the main attraction along with an emphasis on local brews. Check the rotating taps for such quaffs as Athens-based Creature Comfort's Pilsner, for instance. Burgers come in beef, turkey, black bean and chicken; the beef is good enough to order rare if you wish, although as the seven-ounce patty is thin, pink is about as optimal as it gets. We like the Poodle Chaser, with melted Brie, caramelized onions and Dijon mustard, but we embellish it with a dab of mayo, Southern style. Alternative sandwiches range from chicken through fish; salads, soups and a chili are available. For dessert there's a buttermilk pie, a rarely seen Southern treat, but this one is too sweet and shows no buttermilk tang. If you want a carb overload, try the chocolate chip cookie-based dessert burger. Also located at 1144 Alpharetta St., Roswell, 770-518-5695 (the flagship); and Brookhaven, 305 Brookhaven Ave NE, 678-705-1713.
